The Below information is being updated. Stay Tuned...
To all NMR instructors and helpers patrollers for the NMR Fall OEC Refresher (2017):
September 23rd at the Gaylord High School, 90 Livingston Blvd, Gaylord, MI.
Well folks here we are again in the middle of the summer and already getting organized and prepared for the OEC refresher! The general process will be very similar to last year as we will again run a Hybrid Refresher. I know this is a full day commitment for you folks and the helpers you recruit and it is so appreciated! Without your work and dedication to OEC this could not happen each year. Someone from your patrol should be in contact with you about preparing for teaching the sessions your team is responsible for. (see the insert below). Also I have attached the Instructor Guide (also available for download on the NSP.ORG website now under Instructor Resources/OEC Instructors)
As OEC Instructors we must also complete the Fall Refresher as “students” to receive our own recertification as OEC Technicians. We are not exempt and simply participating as an instructor in one of the sections is not enough so we all go through the morning sessions as students. It serves as our refresher and it allows us to prepare to instruct the rest of the patrollers in the afternoon.
We will have lunch again for all instructors between the morning and afternoon courses. Coffee and rolls in the morning to get us off the mark.
To recertify you must complete the following steps. Please be diligent in completing these steps to ensure a smooth day registration process. It is still rather convoluted but basically the same steps as last year.

To recertify you must complete the following steps. Please be diligent in completing these steps to ensure a smooth day registration process. It is still rather convoluted but basically the same steps as last year.
- Complete the written workbook that you received in the mail from the NSP for the Cycle A Refresher. You will absolutely need to bring this completed workbook to the Gaylord High School to receive credit and you need that to be recertified. There have been questions about this in the past so please be advised that it is still required by NSP that you complete this written workbook and present it at registration desk for the refresher. If you don’t have a copy of the workbook you can download a copy from the NSP website (go to member resources, education resources, OEC, 2016 Cycle A Workbook) and print it out, complete it and bring it with you!
- Complete the on-line course for OEC Refresher Cycle A and print out a copy of your completion certificate. Bring the certificate with you to the Gaylord High School. Go to the NSP.org website and sign in as a member. You will then click on the on-line learning box, click again to enter the online learning management system. Under the Courses tab you will find the 2017 Refresher A course. Plan on about 1.5 to 2 hrs to complete this course. It does not have to be done in one sitting and you can return to where you left off as often as you need to complete the 7 learning modules. Be sure to take the survey and then print out your certificate of completion and bring that to the refresher.
- Register for the NMR OEC Cycle A Hybrid Instructor Refresher Course on-line on the NSP website. To do this: log in to the NSP website and go to member resources, select course schedule from the right hand side of the page. Type in the course number C150170003 (Instructor Refresher) and go through the registration process on the website. Be sure to get all the way to the final submit button and receive a confirmation email that you are registered.
- Complete the on-line waiver form by going to the following link. https://www.smartwaiver.com/w/598238dc7efc3/web/ This is also important to do ahead of time this year. This electronic signature form takes the place of hard copy waivers we used to sign at the event. Be sure to follow all the instructions including confirming your E-signature from the email confirmation you will receive in your in-box. If you do not see an email to confirm your electronic signature within a couple hours, please check you junk mail folder.
- Please arrive at the Gaylord High School on September 23rd at 7:30 am for check-in.
- Thank you all once again,
