Spring Meeting and Awards Banquet
Nearly one third of our region gathered at Nub’s Nob and Boyne Highlands April 30th for our Spring Meeting and Awards Dinner. This was the largest attendance since our 2010 banquet at Schuss Mountain.
The day featured an Instructor Development Class with 17 members taking the first step toward becoming a NSP Instructor. Sharon Crockett and a team of seasoned instructors helped the class understand different learning styles and how to tailor materials for all students and the importance and techniques of lesson planning in the NSP Six Pack format. Congratulations to everyone completing this course.
Other morning sessions included:
• On-hill and OEC Teams planning next year’s training programs (see the 2016-17 schedule below).
• 2017 Central Division Fall Meeting Planning Committee. (See Central Division Meeting below).

The afternoon was consumed with the NMR Board of Directors Meeting leading to an outdoor cookout dinner and the awards presentation.
Thank you to Fred Bailey, Randy Frykberg and the entire team that planned and executed the day. A special thanks to Linda Murphy-Jacobs who volunteered Fred and Randy to take on this challenge.

Watch your email for details in August.
• Everyone participating in the Senior Program (ski, toboggan, OEC and/or electives) should plan on attending the Senior Kickoff Conference Call on October 12th. This is the time to get all the information updates and program requirements in one place.
• Note that the Senior OEC Module Clinic will be held December 17th. This event has been moved up in the schedule to help candidates identify strengths and places for improvement early in the season.
• Patrol Directors; please encourage your alpine candidates, patroller and senior, to attend the candidate clinic on January 8th at Schuss. This is a great opportunity to learn exactly what is required in the evaluations and to meet the Region Training and Evaluation Staff. Most importantly, it’s a fun day of skiing and tobogganing in a friendly, fun environment.
• The Region SES/TES is open to all Region Patrollers that want to have some fun in the tracers or just skiing with some of Central Division’s best instructors polishing techniques and maybe learning something new in the process. This is also a great opportunity for candidates to get some additional training.
